Cash Converters, the world's largest second-hand goods retailer, and Australia's favourite place to buy, sell, and borrow, is launching Cash Converters Webshop, its new online store. Australians can find those great second-hand goods they’ve been searching for with items available for purchase by auction, through the ‘buy now’ option or through both. The auction process replicates the in-store price negotiation that often takes place as customers seek a bargain.
Cash Converters Online Manager Linsey Millard says: “Recent research we’ve undertaken shows that half of all consumers think of online stores as the place to buy or sell second-hand goods so the time is right for us to launch Cash Converters Webshop.”
Glenn Donaldson, Cash Converters Marketing Manager, says: “We’re very excited about the launch of Cash Converters Webshop as it’s a natural extension of our brand evolution. You will increasingly see more and more stores with the new ‘look and feel’ that is evidenced in Webshop.”
With 25 years heritage and 140 bricks-and-mortar stores nationally, Cash Converters extends to customers the confidence to purchase second-hand goods online, knowing that all products are checked and tested prior to sale and many items have the back up of Cash Converters’ 90-day warranty.
Adds Linsey Millard: “We’ve been piloting the site over the past few months, ensuring it works smoothly and easily for customers. At launch, we have close to 30 stores throughout Australia listing products. Once a customer makes a purchase, the item will be shipped directly from a Cash Converters store, most likely via Australia Post, with a signature required upon delivery, ensuring the buyer himself receives the goods he purchased. And all goods sold to Cash Converters require the owner to demonstrate 100 points of identification. This information is used in our liaison with authorities to minimise fraudulent activities.
“The pilot has been running for the last few months with 1,000 customers registered, and half of those have already made a purchase. The feedback has been absolutely fantastic and everyone has said that it’s a great shopping experience. The most popular items are games, DVDs and CDs. Often people look for those hard-to-find CDs and are so happy when they pop up on Cash Converters Webshop. Collectibles are a big attraction as well. If you’re a Star Wars fan, Cash Converters Webshop is the place for you right now.”
Cash Converters Webshop accepts payment via credit card and PayPal and if a customer finds the treasure they’re seeking online and determines that it’s for sale at a Cash Converters store nearby, they can drop in to pick up the item and pay in-store.
Linsey adds: “While many of our customers enjoy a ‘Cashies Crawl’, visiting a number of stores throughout a day, others are time poor. Cash Converters Webshop allows them the convenience of exploring many stores from the comfort of their own home at a time that’s convenient to them.”
